Tomato Pulao

Pulao can be prepared with various styles and may have different flavors and taste. Tomato pulao is a quick solution to hunger pangs and can be prepared with different spices and flavors.
Nutritional Benefits
Tomatoes: Fresh tomatoes are low in carbohydrates. The carbohydrate content consists mainly of simple sugars and insoluble fibers. With high moisture content, these fruits are also loaded with several vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, potassium, vitamin K, and folate which are beneficial for overall health.
Rice: Rice contains abundant carbohydrates so it acts as fuel for the body .It aids in the normal functioning of the brain. Rice is gluten-free and hence, causes no inflammation in the gut. This means that people suffering from celiac disease can easily include it in their diet. Being low in sodium, rice is considered one of the best foods for those suffering from hypertension.
Ingredients

  • 50 grams cooked rice
  • 15 grams tomatoes
  • 10 grams peas
  • 1-2 green chilies (optional)
  • 5 grams coriander leaves
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 5 grams ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Whole spices (1 cardamom, cinnamon stick, clove, 1-2 black pepper corns)
  • 1 teaspoon oil

Method

  • Prepare tomato-green chily paste. After this, coarsely ground brown cardamom (peeled), cinnamon, clove and black pepper.
  • Heat some oil in a pan. When the oil is rightly hot add peas to it, cover and cook for 1 minute. Transfer the cooked peas to a bowl.
  • Now, add cumin seeds, coarsely ground spices and saute them for a while. Then add tomato-green chily paste and mix well. To this, add ginger paste, curry leaves and saute the masala until oil starts leaving it edges.
  • Add peas to the masala. Now, add some salt, some green coriander and mix everything. Also mix cooked rice to the masala and mix everything really well. Keep the flame medium.
  • Tomato pulao is ready, serve it hot and garnish with some green coriander.
