Post-Diwali Body Cleanse- How to Do It Right

After binging loads of traditional sweets, fried snacks, and a number of home-made sebaceous unhealthy foods, the festival is finally over. But the real challenge now is to void out all the harmful toxins by purifying your body from within to prevent some major illnesses besides gaining weight.

Here’s a post-Diwali body cleansing guide made just for you:

  • Start your day right :
  • Kick start your day with the right choice of detox drinks like lemonade, peach tea, cinnamon tea. These drinks help you aid weight loss and also improves digestion. Try drinking the detox water at least once in a day. Here we have mentioned 2 detox drinks, have a look!

    • Lukewarm Lemonade
      Squeeze half a lemon into a glass of lukewarm water and have it empty stomach in the morning. You can also add one tablespoon of honey.
    • Cinnamon Tea
      Mix a pinch of cinnamon powder in a cup of warm water and drink it empty stomach in the morning. If you want, you can mix lemon juice and honey for a better taste.
  • Exercise
  • Exercise doesn’t really mean you have to go to the gym and lift heavy weights or do hours of cardio. You can do some easy home exercises or simply go for a walk, run or cycling. Yoga can be a choice too because it relaxes your muscle, burns calories, and gets you back into the shape.

  • Hydrate
    A person should drink at least 2-3 litres of water every day to keep themself hydrated. The fried foods, sweets and processed junkies are enough to fill your body with harmful toxins. Water flushes out all the excess sugar and fats, which sufficiently clears up the system and allows the food nutrients to enter all the other parts of the organ.       Linseed is good sources of omega 3 fatty acids, rich in fibres and most importantly have an amazing mucilaginous quality. Just soak one teaspoon of linseed in half a glass of water overnight. Strain the water and have it empty stomach in the morning.
    • Wheatgrass Juice
      Have half a glass of fresh wheatgrass juice at any time of a day to feel energetic. Wheatgrass juice is effective in deep cleaning of the body. If you want, squeeze a little amount of lemon juice and a pinch of salt for flavour.
    • Gourd Juice
      After so much unhealthy food, you need something refreshing and healthy. Well, gourd juice is here to guard you against toxicity. You can boil the gourd before making juice out of it. Add ginger and lemon drops for flavour.
  • Coriander juice
    The juice is rich in immune-boosting antioxidants, promotes digestion and gut health. To make the juice, grind the coriander leaves with equal amounts of water. Next, add lemon juice and black salt and its ready!
  • Sleep well
  • Diwali has utterly disturbed your sleep cycle. From attending late-night get together to staying up all night with friends and families- there are plenty of ways this big festival affected your body? You are doubtful of how a sleep cycle affects your body? Well here’s your answer, sleep plays a vital role in detoxifying your body and allowing it to recover and recharge gradually by removing the accumulated toxic waste you made over the day. A good night sleep of 8 hours is extremely vital to recharge your mind and your body.

  • Add fruits and veggies
  • The best way to detox your body is by eating loads of fresh fruits and vegetables. They consist of minerals, fibre, antioxidants and vitamins which help in cleansing your body. Fibre helps in removing toxins that are lined up on your intestinal wall, antioxidants help in recovering the damage caused by free radicals, minerals and vitamins act as a building block to cells.

  • Avoid processed foods
  • Processed foods consist of sugar, fat, salt, loads of calories and hydrogenated oils. Weren’t these lined up to your Diwali food already? So, say no to processed food if you really want to detoxify your body. These food items contain all sorts of ingredients that are bad for your body and this may cause weight gain and increase the chances of other illnesses as well.
