“Milagu Kuzhambu” (Pepper Soup)

It is a flavorful and nutritious dish commonly consumed in South India.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 10-12 black peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 2 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and fenugreek seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add black peppercorns and sauté for a minute until they release their aroma.
- Reduce the heat to low and add turmeric powder. Stir well.
- Add tamarind paste and water. Mix everything together.
- Season with salt and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavours to meld.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or idli for a complete meal.
