Welcome Monsoon, not Monsoon Diseases

There is nothing unpleasant about monsoons except the increased risk of cold and flu. With a sigh of relief from the blazing heat, monsoon also brings the risk of plenty of health ailments like sore throat, cough, cold and fever. But let us tell you that a strong immune system and some preventive measures during this season can bid adieu to the monsoon illnesses. Here are some easy tips that you should definitely follow during this monsoon to keep yourself healthy. These tips will boost your digestive health and definitely safeguard you from various monsoon woes.

  • Consume plenty of seasonal and fresh fruits during the rainy season as they help in building immunity and restore energy levels. Apple, pomegranates, mangoes and pears are some of the best fruits you could eat.
  • Keep yourself hydrated and consume at least 3 litres of water in a day and avoid consuming packaged beverages as they are not safe. Also, avoid consuming juices and buttermilk from the outside vendors as these are not very hygienic and can lead to stomach problems.
  • Take care of your hygiene and wash your hands frequently to avoid any infection carriers. Wear cotton clothes and wash regularly. Also, wash your vegetables and fruits before consumption to clean all of the germs.
  • Make sure that you do not consume pre-cut fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables when cut and kept in the open, can easily catch bacteria and germs.
  • Make sure to consume light and cooked fruits and vegetables as your digestive system is weak during the monsoon season.
  • Add vitamin C rich foods to your diet to boost your immune system. Citrus rich fruits like lemon, lime, kiwi, green apple, bell peppers, sprouts, broccoli and tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C and can keep the monsoon cold and flu away from you.
  • Add in the natural herbs and spices in your regular diet. Spices like ginger, turmeric, clove, and cinnamon help in boosting immunity and decrease the chances of getting cold and flu. You can boil these in water and sip throughout the day for effective results.

Your diet and hygiene play a major role in deciding your health. Take notes on the above-written pointers and abide by these to keep the monsoon related health woes at bay. Take extra care of your health during this season to enjoy it without any health glitches.
