Sorakaya Curry

Sorakaya curry is a perfect south Indian style curry which is prepared using bottle gourd.

Bottle gourd is a light watery vegetable which is rich in dietary fiber and is low in sodium content. Urad dal is rich proteins and vitamins B.This delicious lentil is full of iron, folic acid, calcium, magnesium and potassium, which makes this dal a perfect health package.
Ingredients:
- 40 grams bottle gourd
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 10 grams urad dal
- 1 dry red chilli
- 3-4 curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- ¼th teaspoon Sambhar powder
- 5 grams oil

Method:
- To make sorakaya curry firstly peel the bottle gourd and cut then into cubes.
- Then take a pressure cooker add bottle gourd cubes along with salt, turmeric powder and 1 cup water and pressure cook until 2 whistles.
- Release the pressure and keep aside.
- Take a pan and heat some oil.
- Add mustard seeds, urad dal, sesame seeds, curry leaves and red chilli and allow the seeds to crackle and the dal to turn golden brown.
- Add bottle gourd into it along with salt and sambhar powder as per taste.
- Combine and simmer for another 2-3 minutes
- Finally, remove from heat and serve hot with rice or chapattis.
