Fruit salad with poppy seeds

The season brings in different recipes to try on and enjoy with near and dear ones. This wonderful fruit salad has a delicious poppy seed dressing that can be served as a side salad during family gatherings.

Nutritional benefits:
Apple is great for heart health. The fiber in the apple makes it easy to digest and is therefore happily consumed by patients suffering from heart diseases. Pear helps in lowering the LDL levels. They are low in calories and help in losing weight with portion control. Poppy seeds are good for digestion as they are good in fiber and the antioxidants help in protecting the body from cellular damage.

Ingredients:

  • 5 grams jaggery
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 10 grams onion
  • 10 grams lettuce
  • 2.5 grams chopped cashews
  • 5 grams cranberries
  • 10 grams apple
  • 10 grams pear
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt as per taste
  • ½ teaspoon oil
  • ¼ teaspoon poppy seeds

Method:

  • Start by washing the fruits and peeling them separately.
  • Combine jaggery, lemon juice, mustard, onion, and salt in a food processor and allow it to blend.
  • Slowly add in some oil and mix it until it has a thick consistency.
  • Then add in the poppy seeds and mix for a few more seconds.
  • Take a serving bowl and toss in the chopped lettuce, cashews, cranberries, apple, and pear.
  • Drizzle over the poppy seed dressing and mix well to allow it to coat well.
  • It can be garnished with nuts of choice and served.
