Apple Walnut Kheer

Apple Walnut Kheer is a creamy and flavorful dessert made by simmering rolled oats in milk, sweetened naturally with mashed banana and sautéed apples. The warmth of cinnamon and cardamom spices complements the nutty flavor of toasted walnuts, making this kheer a perfect blend of comforting and nutritious ingredients. This kheer can be enjoyed warm or chilled, offering a delightful treat for any occasion.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 1 small grated apple
- 15 grams finely chopped walnuts
- 60 grams rolled oats
- 200 ml milk
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 teaspoon ghee
- 1 small mashed ripe banana
Procedure:
- Heat 1/2 ghee in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped walnuts and sauté until they are lightly toasted. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the grated apple and sauté until it softens slightly (about 2-3 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of ghee. Add the oats and roast them lightly for about 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in the milk and bring it to a gentle boil.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until the oats are cooked and the mixture thickens.
- Add the mashed banana to the cooked oats, stirring well to incorporate it as a natural sweetener.
- Add the sautéed apple, cinnamon powder, and cardamom powder. Mix well.
- Stir in the toasted walnuts.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and the kheer reaches your desired consistency.
- Serve the Apple Walnut Kheer warm or chilled, depending on your preference.
