Walnut and Fruit Energy Bites

Pre-workout snacks are sometimes difficult to decide. These walnut and fruit energy bites are loaded with crunchy walnuts and dried cranberries. This makes them are a perfect pre-workout snack with great taste.
Nutritional Value
Walnuts: 7 whole walnuts are recommended for daily consumption as these include 2.5 g of alpha- linolenic acid (ALA), 4 grams of protein, 2 grams of fiber and minimal carbohydrates. This proportion of macronutrients is responsible for satiety. Walnuts are also a good source of magnesium (45 mg per ounce).
Cranberries: Cranberries have a very impressive bioactive components profile. These compounds are linked to a variety of health benefits and can protect against degenerative and chronic diseases. The compounds in these berries are good for your cardiovascular health, metabolism and immune system. Cranberries are also known for being able to help maintain the health of the urinary tract.
Ingredients
- 5 grams California walnuts
- 1-2 pitted dates
- 5 grams dried cranberries
- 5 grams unsweetened flaked coconut, plus additional for coating if desired
- 5 grams ground flax seeds
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 grams crispy rice cereal

Method
- Place walnuts, dates, cranberries, coconut and flax seeds in a food processor. Process until coarsely chopped.
- Add vanilla and pulse until ingredients are fairly finely chopped.
- Transfer to a medium bowl and add cereal. Mix with your hands until it’s fully incorporated.
- Roll into equal balls, pressing firmly when shaping. Roll all or half in additional coconut, if desired.
