BROCCOLI TIKKI

Are you looking for a healthy mid-meal snack? This should be your new go to snack!

Ingredients

  • 250-300g broccoli
  • 1 medium potato, washed with skin on
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 3 spring onions
  • handful fresh coriander

 

Method

  • Put potatoes in a pan with their skins on, cover with cold water, and then bring to a boil. Turn down the heat and let the food to simmer until tender. Cool and drain.
  • After the skin has cooled, take it off with your fingers and throw it away. Put the grated potato in a bowl and set it aside.
  • Shred the broccoli florets into a fine powder.
  • Preheat a frying pan, add the cumin and coriander seeds, and toast them until aromatic. Remove from the heat, let them cool, then grind them into a powder.
  • Heat a sizable frying pan, add oil, and then add the chopped broccoli. Add the cumin and coriander powder and toss to begin cooking.
  • Include the chaat masala, salt, turmeric, and green chilies.

After the broccoli has softened (about 6-7 minutes), turn off the heat and let the mixture cool. 

  • Mix everything together, until everything is incorporated.

Add the spring onions and fresh coriander there will be, thick mixture in the end. If needed, check the seasoning and make adjustments.

  • Take a ball of the mixture and wet your hands to prevent the mixture from adhering to your fingertips. Create patties or tikki that are about 2 cm thick and 7 cm in diameter.
  • Continue until they are all created. Put them in the refrigerator until you’re prepared to cook them.

Place the tikki on a heated tava or frying pan for 2–3 minutes, or until they are a wonderful shade of brown. Cook the tikki on the opposite side as well.

Be gentle because these are really sensitive. When you’re ready to serve them with green chutney.
