1. Water: Hydration is the most underrated aspect of skin health.

Without adequate water intake, skin appears duller, and wrinkles and pores more prominent. Proper hydration levels help the skin to become plump and improves its elasticity meaning it’s less likely to crack and have irritations and blemishes. It’s important to consume 3 litres of water on a daily basis.

2. Herbs; Herbs include

Sandalwood(chandan)– It helps in treating acne.It has anti-ageing properties that prevent early sagging of skin, and hence, avoids wrinkles. It also has anti-tanning properties, which can be helpful  in the treatment of  sunburns and suntan caused by the summer sun.

You can add water to the chandan powder in a ratio of 1:2 respectively. Prepare this lep (paste) and apply on your face for about 2-3 hours.

Neem leaves– It has anti-inflammatory properties, which purify the blood and reduces acne and pimples.To utilise the optimum benefits of neem in its natural form, boil a handful of fresh neem leaves in water. Then, swipe the infused water on your face with a cotton pad. This works as a DIY toner and helps bring blackheads and whiteheads out from within the skin as you sleep, while also treating congested pores

Aloe vera– Aloe vera has been known and used for centuries for its health,beauty and skin care properties. It has a range  of benefits from eczema to sunburn and acne. It contains beta carotene, vitamin C,E which are antioxidants. It provides minerals like calcium,chromium,copper,selenium etc. Aloe vera gel is protective against radiation damage to the skin.It acts as a natural moisturiser.

Saffron(kesar)– It has antioxidants and possesses anti-inflammatory properties, which help in soothing sunburns and heat rashes. It also has anti-fungal properties, which help in treating common summer skin problems like acne and pimples. It is also known to lighten the skin.

Add it in water and keep it overnight; next morning start your day by drinking it.

3. Watermelon: Watermelons are high in vitamin C and nitric acid, which limit the growth of acne-causing bacteria. Its anti-inflammatory qualities help to lessen inflammation and redness. You can eat it whole or have it as a juice.
4. Coconut water: This amazing liquid is considered to be the purest after water for its hydration property which makes one look youthful and  have a supple skin. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Coconut water is composed of a phytohormone called kinetin, which may provide anti-aging and antioxidant effects.

5. Chia seeds: They help in keeping the skin dry. They contain omega-3 fatty acids which provide the required nourishment to the skin.You can dry roast, add it to smoothies and add it to roti dough.

6. Tomatoes: They contain an antioxidant called lycopene which protects from sun damage as well as reduces the ageing process. You can include it in salads, as  a part of paste for tempering.

7. Clothing & exercise: Blocked sweat glands cause prickly heat. Because the sweat cannot get out, it builds up under your skin, causing a rash and tiny, itchy bumps. When the bumps burst and release sweat, many people feel a prickly sensation on their skin. Tips that dermatologists offer to their patients to help them sweat less and thereby lessen their risk of getting prickly heat include:
Wear light-weight, loose-fitting clothes made of cotton.
Exercise outdoors during the coolest parts of the day.
