5 Aphrodisiac Foods to Get You in the Mood

Aphrodisiacs are items that arouse sexual instinct, amplifies sexual desire, increases sexual pleasure and in some cases even sexual performance. These may be natural or synthetic.

Marketing around libido-boosting drugs is also very prevalent in this modern age.

However, these drugs are not always without side effects hence people look for natural foods with minimum harm to one’s body.

Natural foods also get the desired effect as a sexual stimulant and improve mood & bonding also with your partner.

Here are some foods that can get you into the mood –

1- Ginseng – A very popular Chinese medicinal herb. Its usage can be dated back to hundreds of years.

Red ginseng is very commonly used nowadays to help men and women improve their sexual condition and performance.
It also boosts arousal if taken by women in their menopause. Mostly taken for cases of erectile dysfunction this food needs to be consumed in low quantities daily.

It may interfere with blood-thinning medications and hence only tolerant individuals should consume it.

2- Oysters – A food that is more important on how you consume it rather than its effect after consuming it.

Many couples share a meal of oysters and feel arousal at the sensual experience of eating it. The feel of oysters inside the mouth is the genuine aphrodisiac. Oysters do contain high zinc content that helps sexual function but there are no specific studies to back it up.

3- Maca – It is a sweet root vegetable native to South America, where it is commonly used to boost fertility among women and men. It is found that it increases libido and erectile function. It also helps counter the effects of antidepressants. Like most aphrodisiacs, it is consumed in low quantities daily.

4- Avocado –
This is a type of food where it is a stimulant due to its shape and smell. It is also commonly used by couples to affect their senses and turn on pleasure. The shape of the food is sensual and boosts arousal among women. Its texture also adds to its sensuality. It boosts sex drive in females who are often affected by their sense of sight and smell.

5- Chocolate – Different uses of chocolate as well as the benefits of cocoa, all help in it becoming a major mood-boosting food. Cocoa stimulates the production of dopamine and serotonin which make you feel happy and improve your mood. It also secretes hormones that are released when you fall in love. Such conditions greatly increase arousal and libido. Bedroom activities involving the use of chocolate is also a turn on for couples.
