Ragi Oats and Wheat Thepla

Thepla makes a great high protein and healthy breakfast but with the addition of ragi and fenugreek leaves into the thepla makes it packed with nutrition and taste and adds a nutty flavour to the thepla.

Nutritional Benefits:
Ragi is rich in calcium, helps in weight loss, has a high fibre content, battles anaemia, reduces blood cholesterol and also regulates blood sugar levels.

Ingredients:

  • 30 grams Whole Wheat Flour
  • 30 grams Ragi Flour
  • 20 grams Oats Flour
  • ½ teaspoon Flax seed powder
  • 15 grams curd
  • ½ teaspoon fenugreek leaves
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon Red Chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon sunflower oil
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients, including the fenugreek leaves.
  • Add the yogurt to the flour mixture and knead into a firm smooth dough adding little water only if required.
  • Finally add little oil to coat the ragi thepla dough and knead until it is firm and smooth. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
  • Divide the ragi thepla dough into equal portions.
  • Roll the thepla portions into balls; flatten them with the palm of your hand.
  • As you roll them out, you can keep tossing the thepla dough in dry flour to prevent sticking when rolling them out. Continue the same process of rolling the dough out with the remaining balls.
  • Heat oil on a flat pan, flip the ragi thepla using a flat spatula and do a light pressing and turning motion to cook to the thepla.
  • Flip to the other side and press and turn in a similar way. Remove the thepla from heat and place on a flat plate.
  • Continue the similar process.
