Chura Mattar Recipe

Churra Mattar is a flattened rice ‘ poha and peas’ recipe. It’s a traditional Uttar Pradesh Recipe.

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Poha
  • ¼ Cup Fresh Peas
  • 1 Tsp. Oil
  • ½ Tsp. Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Green Chilli – chopped
  • ½ Tsp. Grated Ginger
  • ¼ Cup Water
  • ¼ Tsp. Garam Masala
  • 1 Tsp. Lemon Juice
  • 4-5 Cashew Nuts
  • Pinch of Asafoetida

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Poha
  • ¼ Cup Fresh Peas
  • 1 Tsp. Oil
  • ½ Tsp. Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Green Chilli – chopped
  • ½ Tsp. Grated Ginger
  • ¼ Cup Water
  • ¼ Tsp. Garam Masala
  • 1 Tsp. Lemon Juice
  • 4-5 Cashew Nuts
  • Pinch of Asafoetida

Method

  • Heat a pan. Add oil, and cashews and roast them till they turn golden.
  • Now remove cashew and add cumin seeds, chilies, and ginger. Sautee them well
  • Add green peas and mix them well. Add water for cooking green peas.
  • Till then wash Poha gently.
  • When peas are cooked, add black pepper, garam masala, and a pinch of asafoetida. Mix them well.
  • Mix Poha with the mixture gently. Cover the pan and cook on a flowing flame for 2 minutes.
  • Switch off the flame and add lemon juice and mix the poha well.
  • Garnish Poha with cashews.
