World Cancer Day- 7 Indian Spices that Helps in Preventing Cancer

Although the reason for cancer is not always known, sometimes there are herbs & food suggestions that are helpful in reducing the chances of acquiring cancer and some medicinal herbs that have shown clear improvement in the health condition of the person.

Cancer is a disease that takes place when abnormal cell growth takes place. Research has shown many types of phytochemicals that can help prevent many health conditions.

Some changes in diet plans and usage of spices that have anti-cancer properties are useful in preventing many health problems. Like:

  • Cayenne Pepper/ Capsicum annuum- This spice induces apoptosis, a procedure by which any potential causes of cancer cells are eliminated, reduces the size of leukaemia tumour cells and can not only set your tongues on fire but also the cells of cancer.
  • Ginger- Ginger has many medicinal properties while helping in lowering cholesterol, helps in the boost of metabolism and helps in destroying cancer cells.
    This spice can be added to almost all kinds of dishes and preparations, including salads to enhance the flavor in cooking.
  • Cinnamon- Consuming a fixed amount of cinnamon powder every day can help in the reduction of chances of cancer.
    It is a natural food preservative and is a great source of iron and calcium. It is known as a good reducer of tumour growth.
    Honey and cinnamon together can benefit the body.
  • Cumin- A good aid for digestion, it is a potent herb with anti-oxidant characteristics that checks the proliferation of cells responsible for prostate cancer.
  • Fennel- Fennel is a spice that is entirely filled with Phyto-nutrients and antioxidants. The spice has a major constituent called Anethole which resists and restricts the adhesive and invasive functions of cancer cells.
    It also has properties that suppress the enzymatic regulated activities that are responsible for cancer cell multiplication.
  • Turmeric/ Curcumin- This is one of the best spices when dealing with cancer diseases and it has one of the most powerful chemicals like polyphenol Curcumin which has been clinically tested to check the retardation of the growth of cancer cells which is responsible for causing prostate cancer, melanoma, brain tumor, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and leukemia amongst many others.
    This happens when the compound gets rid of any cancer breeding cells and doesn’t affect the development of any other healthy cells.
  • Black Pepper- Is known to halt the growth of stem cells that can be a cause of cancer. It is known that black pepper can help decrease stem cells in the body.
  •  
    There are some other herbs like Chilli Pepper and Saffron are also good herbs that can be used daily.
