Our gut health depends on the food we eat! Well, yes, that’s true! But there is more to that. A healthy diet and proper nutrients is a pre-requisite for a happy and healthy stomach but thousands of factors like what you drink, how much you eat, what your lifestyle is- all responsible in deciding your gut health. Excessive consumption of packaged, sugary and processed foods can take a toll on your stomach health and make it unhappy.  This can result in low energy levels, irritating vibes and bad health. Here are some easy to follow tips and tricks that can do wonders to your stomach health while making it happy and healthy.

  • Water, water, water: Consuming 2.5-3 litres of water on a regular basis is a pre-requisite to feed a healthy stomach. It flushes out all the toxins from the body while adding up to your gut health. Water plays an important role to digest the food properly and that is how it maintains the proper health of your stomach. Not only this but consuming enough quantities of water on a regular basis can make your skin glowing like nothing else. If you won’t be able to consume enough quantities of water due to its plain and boring taste then you can add variations in it by adding fruits, lemon, and mint leaves in it. In addition to water, you can also add buttermilk, smoothies and coconut water to hydrate yourself and to soothe your stomach.

 

  • Fibre is a go-go: Proper consumption of fibre smoothen out the functions of your bowel which ensures your digestive system is on track. It also helps in relieving constipation and loose stools and soothes any irritation and pain in the stomach. Adding dietary fibre in your diet is extremely important for your overall health and well-being. You can add fruits, whole grains, vegetables, nuts and seeds and oatmeals in your diet to increase the intake of fibre.  

 

  • Avoid processed and packaged food: Processed and packaged food items are filled with sugars and oil which is not good for the gut health and overall well-being. Excessive consumption of such foods can increase the risk of various health ailments like stomach-ache, bloating, gas, high cholesterol levels and diabetes. So, try to avoid such food items and if you are consuming them- always keep an eye on its quantities to feed a happy and healthy gut.

 

  • Avoid antibiotics and non-essential medicines: What you eat is one of the major factors that contribute to bad gut health- even the medicines you consume! To get a happy and healthy gut, avoid antibiotics and unnecessary medicines. Consumption of such medicines kills the good microbes in your gut which makes it weak. Also, it can create gas, bloating, irritation and burning sensation in the gut while making your digestive tract weak.
