7 Diet Tips To Help Lower The Inflammation In Psoriasis

In psoriasis, there is an abnormal growth of cells as cells grow every 3 to 4 days due to the immune system that causes inflammation in the body. The abnormal growth of cells causes build-up that results in silver scales. This is a condition in which the skin forms red and itchy patches on different parts of the body like the knee, elbow, neck, trunk, etc.
The symptoms include red, itchy, and painful patches, silver scales, detachment of anils from the nail bed and swelling of joints. It is a non-communicable but an auto-immune disease and there are some triggers that disturb a normal lifestyle, like infection, injury, stress, poor diet, medication, substance abuse, etc.

Some Diet Tips That Help Lower The Inflammation In Psoriasis:

  • Include Anti-inflammatory Foods- foods like green vegetables, nuts, seeds, and berries are anti-inflammatory. These foods can be a good addition to someone’s diet who is prone to inflammation.
Have Enough Antioxidants- these are substances that help defend the body and reduce cell damage. Consuming berries, dark chocolates, green leafy vegetables, and nuts are filled with antioxidants that will help you build a strong immune system too.
  • Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods- sugary and processed food like cakes, biscuits, breakfast cereals, cheese, bread, canned drinks, ketchup, chips, chocolates, etc. can increase inflammation and decrease the proper functioning of the immune system. Sugar is addictive and increases brain cell inflammation.
Don’t Forget The Healthy Omega-3- omega-3 fatty acid is a great source of healthy fats that help lower inflammation and is essential for the growth and development of the cells. Some sources of Omega 3 are walnuts, flax seeds, eggs, fish, and nut oil.
  • Hydrate Well- water is not only good for the body but for the skin too. Drinking enough water will keep your skin hydrated and also, improve the texture of the skin. Have at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.
  • Have Fresh Fruits & Vegetables- nothing can be as nutrient-dense as fresh fruits and vegetables! And the amount of goodness they provide the body is startling. They provide the body with dietary fiber that helps maintain a good weight and keep the skin hydrated.
  • Avoid Trigger Foods- first, acknowledge the foods that trigger the symptoms of psoriasis and then avoid them to help lower the inflammation. Keep a note of what you eat that flares up the symptoms and eliminate them completely from your diet.
