Indian meals can’t be complete without the serving and taste of tangy and spicy pickles. The peppery and unique taste of pickles not only looks appetising to the taste buds but it also quite beneficial for the health. From the pungent taste of kaccha aam achaar to the spicy flavour of green chilly pickle to citrusy and juicy nimbu ka achaar– there are plenty of pickle recipes you can try at home.

So, spruce up the taste of the boring dishes by trying these simple, healthy and spicy pickle recipes at home. Fill up the big jars of these pickles in your kitchen cabinets and enjoy the unique and delicious taste with every bite.

Here are four easy and healthy pickle recipes to try at home

  • Ginger pickle (adrak ka achaar): Ginger is rich in various nutrients and is well-known for its medicinal properties. This pickle can make your meal delicious and tasty while adding up to your health. Do not worry as it can easily be prepared in just a few minutes. From boring dal to simple parantha– it can easily add a unique and different zest to almost everything. All you have to do is take raw ginger (peeled skin and cut it into small pieces, thin strips) and add it in a jar. Now, add salt, red chilli powder, vinegar and lemon juice in it. Mix it well properly and let it aside for some days in sunlight (maybe 8-10). Don’t forget to shake the container every day. The humble, quick and tempting pickle is ready!

 

  • Carrot pickle (gajar ka achaar): Carrots offer various essential nutrients like Vitamin K, B, A, fibre and many others and are extremely beneficial for the health. To prepare this pickle, cut the carrots in some pieces and add it in a jar. Now, take a pan and split fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, chilli powder, turmeric and salt in it. Mix it well and it to the jar of carrots. Let it aside for some 24 hours and it is all set to consume. A little tangy and spicy flavour of this pickle is perfect to make your dishes delightful and flavoursome.  

 

  • Indian gooseberry pickle (amle ka achaar): Indian gooseberry aka amla is rich in Vitamin C and its consumption is great for eyes, hair and skin. This sweet and sour pickle can become your favourite tongue tickler while giving a classic flavour to your meals. Start by boiling amla in water until firm and tender. Once done, drain out the water and take another pan and add some oil, mustard seeds, chilli powder and salt in it. Mix well and add amla in this mixture. Mix well the mixture and amla together and turn off the heat and fill the amla pickle in a jar. It’s ready to consume!

 

  • Lemon pickle (nimbu ka achaar): Almost everyone adores the sour and tangy taste of nimbu ka achaar. Lemon is packed with various essential nutrients and is great for digestion and losing weight. Its pickle is mixed with spices and is tempting to the buds. Boil some lemon in the water and strain out the water once done. Cut the lemons into halves or quarter as you want. Now, take a pan and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, salt, chilli powder and turmeric in it. Mix well and add lemon to the mixture. Mix well and shift the pickle to a jar and enjoy!
