This simple yet delicious doodhi thepla recipe requires just a few ingredients from your kitchen. It is a healthy traveling snack option and gets ready in no time.

Bottle gourd: Bottle gourd contains a high amount of water and is very low in carbohydrates. It belongs to the low glycemic index category of foods. Bottle gourd is very low in sodium; therefore it is suitable for those with high blood pressure. The high fiber content of bottle gourd is beneficial to the gut. This provides bulk to stools and eases bowel movements.
Ingredients
- 20 grams bottle gourd
- 30 grams whole wheat flour
- 15 grams curd
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon oil
- Salt to taste
- Whole wheat flour for rolling

Method
- To make the doodhi theplas, mix all the ingredients and ¾ teaspoon and knead it into a soft dough using water only if required.
- Grease your hands with the remaining ¼ teaspoon oil and knead the dough again to smoothen it.
- Divide the dough into equal portions.
- Roll out each portion into a 125 mm (5”) diameter circle using a little wheat flour for rolling.
- Heat a non-stick tava and cook each thepla till golden brown spots appear on both sides.
- Serve the doodhi theplas hot.
