4 Healthy Navratri Sweet Delicacies

Navratri opens the door to many Indian festivals. There is a variety of food on the plates and a lot of enthusiasm in the hearts of the people. In every Indian household, finding a sweet dish on the table is a no brainer. Because without it festivals feel so incomplete. But, how about making them, by keeping your health a priority? Read on to find out four healthy Navratri sweet recipes that you must try your hands on.

Sattu Laddu.
Sattu is prepared by roasting and grounding black chana. It has excellent cooling properties and is enriched with nutrients like protein, fibre, carbs, iron and calcium. To make these, all you need is jaggery, sattu flour, desi ghee, cardamom pods, and some almonds.
Process:

  • Grind the jaggery into powder and crush the cardamom into powder too.
  • Add one tablespoon of ghee and roast almonds on a low flame, and keep them aside.
  • In the same pan, heat some more ghee, add the sattu flour and stir continuously for 5 mins on a low flame. Do not overdo it.
  • Transfer the roasted flour into a large bowl, add the jaggery powder, cardamom powder, and almonds in it.
  • Roll out laddus. Make sure that you do them as tightly as possible.

Ragi Laddu.
Ragi laddus are rich in iron, calcium, and healthy fats. They also provide relief from hair loss, dry skin, iron deficiency, anaemia, and are great as a post-workout snack. To make them, you will need 1½ cup ragi flour, 1 cup coconut gratings, 1 cup jaggery, and 3 tablespoons desi ghee.
Process:

  • In a pan, add ghee and roast ragi flour in a low flame. By doing so, the assimilation of iron increases 10 folds.
  • After it is well roasted, add coconut gratings and continue roasting until it turns brownish in colour.
  • By that time, melt 1 cup jaggery with ¼ cup water till it attains one string consistency.
  • Post that, add the ragi flour and coconut mix in this.
  • You can also add ghee fried sunflower seeds and cashews in it, at this point.
  • Roll out the laddus and store in an airtight container.

Coconut Till Laddu.
This combination is the best to beat your sugar cravings, while also adding a dose of health. Coconut has various health benefits from being anti-bacterial to boosting the energy levels, whereas white sesame seeds (till) is loaded with calcium. Together they have a striking taste and are very filling too. To make these, you will need- 2 cups white sesame seeds, 1½ cups dates chopped, 1 cup dry coconut(grated).
Process:

  • Start by dry roasting sesame until they turn light brown.
  • Finely chop or blend de-seeded dates.
  • Grind the sesame seeds. Empty it in a bowl, add dates and grated coconut to it.
  • Take small amounts of this mixture into your hands and roll out small laddus. You can also add some coconut flour to add texture.

Apple Rabri.
To make apple rabri, you will need 4 apples, 1-litre milk, 6 tablespoons jaggery powder, dry fruits of your choice, saffron, and cardamom powder.
Process:

  • In a heavy bottom pan, add milk and let it boil until half.
  • Wash the apples, grate them and add it to the milk along with jaggery. Make sure the flame is on medium.
  • Next, add any dry fruit of your choice- almonds, cashew nuts, pistachios, or raisins.
  • Add saffron and the cardamom powder to the rabri, stir it well and switch the flame off.
