Shilpa Shetty Kundra Setting Some Week Worthy Fitness Goals by Performing Eka Pada Kapotasana

There is never a day when Shilpa Shetty Kundra is not seen working out. One of the fittest actresses in Bollywood, Shilpa Shetty particularly prefers to begin her day with Yoga.

Shilpa Shetty shared a video on her Instagram where she is seen performing the ‘Eka Pada Kapotasana’ pose as she prepares herself to kick-start the month of December with the caption, “Beginning a new day and a new week on an energetic note may not always be the easiest thing to do.”

She further encouraged her fans by writing, “But, what we can do is flex and stretch our muscles well enough to prepare ourselves for the day ahead.”

While doing the Eka pada Kapotasana, Shilpa Shetty explains the importance of this asana and says, this variation not only stretches the thighs, hamstrings, groin, abdomen, chest, shoulders, & neck but also helps open up the hips & adds more flexibility to the hip region,” she wrote.

So what exactly is the ‘Eka Pada Kapotasana’ pose and how can it be beneficial for you?
The ‘Eka Pada Kapotasana’ pose, also known as the One-legged Pigeon pose, not only stretches the larger group muscles of your body like hamstrings, thighs, groin, abdomen, chest, shoulders and neck but also helps to ease up the pressure on your hips by opening up the hip joint, thus giving you more flexibility towards the hip region.

Doing the ‘Eka Pada Kapotasana’ pose can also help in relieving stress, fear and anxiety from your mind and body, which will allow you to think and function in a much better manner.

This posture is very beneficial for those who are athletes as it relieves back problems, especially sciatica. It also strengthens the back and corrects the body posture.

This form of yoga asana also helps in improving the functions of the urinary and reproductive systems.

It is important to note that this posture should be avoided if someone had a hip replacement or currently facing a hip injury. It should also be avoided by pregnant women who are trying to conceive.

Along with a strict fitness regimen, this b-town star also follows a stringent diet routine to keep herself fit and fine. Let’s have a look into that too.
It’s all about eating smart carbs and good fats. Shilpa Shetty’s Diet plan for weight loss does not believe in starving. Few lifestyle changes in the food habits have given the actress great results like switching to coconut milk and other energy-producing foods that are not stored in the body as fats. Coconut milk is said to be wholesome and works for those who are lactose-intolerant. She is absolutely against refined sugar and uses only natural sweeteners like powdered jaggery or honey, coconut sugar, and the natural sweetness of the fruits. She recommends adding rich foods in a diet that keeps the body full and at the same time maintain weight and give you a natural glow.

Over to you:
It is very important to do this asana in the correct posture to reap the maximum benefits. With the motivational caption and video, Shilpa inspired all her fans to perform this asana and start the week with a punch of energy. Kick start your December fitness goals by performing Eka Pada Kapotasana and indulging into healthy eating.
