When it comes to losing weight the question arises whether to depend on just diet, exercise or both. Diet and exercise are an integral part of each other helping you to shed off those extra kilos. The right food will give you the fuel to be physically active while exercising will ensure you burn off any excess calories that may come in the way of you staying healthy.
The Exercise
The best lifestyle to stay fit and toned is made by following a good dietary and exercise routine. When it comes to exercise it necessarily doesn’t mean that a person has to do some intense workouts or weight lifting. Simple and easy workouts like Zumba, resistance training or brisk walking can be performed at home as well. You can start by making small changes by including shorter workout routines and then gradually increasing. Exercise not only helps to keep a person fit but also improves sleep quality, reduces stress and keeps the health problems away.
The Diet
To keep away the piling up of the kilos, one must monitor their food preferences more than the amount of exercise they are doing. For example, increased intake of fast food leads to obesity and weight gain. To overcome the weight gain our focus should be more on portion control and food choices. Foods with more satiety in controlled portions also help to maintain weight.
Portion control does not mean eating less. That refers to eating healthy by restricting fast or junk food . The main point to keep in mind is when you eat less; the body tends to resist weight loss, which can lead to a plateau or starvation mode. The metabolism starts to slow in that case making weight loss more difficult.
The choice of food does matter and exercise would help achieve fitness goals. The main key to toning down is calorie restriction and not just increasing the exercise.
Regular physical activity and workout have a lot of benefits. It helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, dementia and keeps the body active
So What Counts More?
It’s true that exercise can give you instant energy, but smart and monitored eating throughout the day will fuel you with a steadier supply. With proper nutrition and timed meals, you’ll keep your blood sugar balanced.
Both nutrition and exercise complement each other and neither can do anything without the other. This means that without exercising, you will not end up burning calories of the foods you eat and without food; you will not have the desired energy for exercise. If you are looking for weight loss the main aim should be to burn more calories than consumed.
