Men’s Health – 5 Effective Guidelines to Prevent and Manage Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is a serious condition that affects millions of men across the world. It is a type of cancer that affects a man’s prostate. The prostate is a small walnut-shaped gland that secretes a seminal fluid that is responsible for transporting and nourishing the sperms. In some cases, this cancer spreads slowly in the prostate gland with relatively minimal threat. But in other situations, prostate cancer might grow rapidly and aggressively which demands immediate treatment.

Abnormal growth of cells in the prostate gland causes prostate cancer. It can quickly spread to other areas of the body. It is advised to treat this condition while the cancer is situated in the prostate gland. Age, obesity and family history are some risk factors for prostate cancer. The symptoms for nonaggressive prostate cancer aren’t noticeable but as the condition deteriorates, the symptoms are highly visible. Some common symptoms include trouble, burning sensation or bleeding while urinating, frequent urination, erectile dysfunction, blood in semen, and pain or discomfort around the pelvic area.

Prostate cancer is a common disease faced by men of different age groups and ethnicity. Doctors diagnose this cancer by various methods such as prostate screening and rectal exam.

Here are 5 effective ways in which you can prevent and manage prostate cancer:

  • Regular exercising: Men who regularly workout have a lower chance of developing prostate cancer in comparison to men who don’t exercise. Exercising improves your health and helps in weight loss. Start exercising every day for 30 mins and slowly increase the duration and intensity of the workout.
  • Ease the stress: If you are a patient of prostate cancer, you might feel engulfed with a million emotions. The idea of developing cancer is scary but living with cancer is baffling. Maintain a healthy weight by eating a nutritious diet. Reduce your calorie intake and indulge in working out every day.
  • Stick to the diet: Eating the right variety of food can reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Foods such as tomatoes, fish, broccoli, soy, and omega-3 fatty acids can prevent the development of prostate cancer. Add a decent amount of whole grains and vegetables to your diet. Avoid eating processed and fatty foods.
