Follow These General Guidelines For AYUSH Based Holistic Care During COVID-19

Ayurveda is a science that uses natural methods and ingredients for the treatment of any ailment or just for overall well-being. It is India’s traditional system of medicine and healthcare, very useful for the times of COVID-19.

Holistic care includes looking after all the domains of well-being- physical, emotional, spiritual, and even internal and external. These times can be difficult to believe what you see, and with so much information it can be challenging. But you can always look back to your roots and take care of yourself in protection against the virus.

Here Are Some General Guidelines For AYUSH Based Holistic Care During COVID-19:

  • Frequent intake of lukewarm water.
  • Half teaspoon Haldi (turmeric) powder in 150 ml hot milk once or twice a day.
  • Food should be freshly prepared, and easily digestible.
  • Spices like Haldi (Turmeric), Jeera (Cumin), Dhanya (Coriander), Saunth (dry ginger), and Lahsun (Garlic) are recommended in cooking.
  • Consume fresh Amla fruit (Indian gooseberry), if available or all our products as per the suggestions of Ayurveda physician.
  • Gargling with warm water added with a pinch of turmeric and salt.
  • Nasal application of 1-2 drops of Anu taila/ sesame oil/ coconut oil in each nostril morning and evening.
  • Take 1 tablespoon sesame oil or coconut oil in the mouth. do not drink, swish in the mouth for 2 to 3 minutes and spit it off followed by a warm water rinse. this can be done once or twice a day.
  • Steam inhalation with plain water or fresh Pudina (Mint) leaves or Ajwain (Caraway seeds) or Karpur (Camphor) once a day in case of sore throat.
  • Daily practice of Yoga Asanas, Pranayama, and Meditation for at least 30 minutes as advised in the National Clinical Management protocol based on Ayurveda and Yoga issued by the Ministry of Ayush for COVID-19 prophylaxis.
  • Adequate sleep (7 to 8 hours) should be taken and daytime silk preferably be avoided.

Gargling is important for your throat to fight back bacteria and stop their growth then and there. It also relaxes your senses. Amla is rich in vitamin C which will give you extra antioxidants to boost the body’s natural defenses.

With good home-cooked fresh food, adequate sleep, stress management through Meditation, building strength through Yogasanas, and improving your efficiency of lungs with Pranayam- you can be an all-rounder in health!

Additionally, using spices like Turmeric, Garlic, and Caraway seeds in the meals you cook, can help fight bacteria and build immunity.
