Holi DIY- Try these Natural Colours To Make your Holi Safe and Sound

The merriment of the vibrant festival Holi is almost here! Marking the initiation of spring, Holi is the festival of joy, delicious delicacies, bright hues, love and new beginnings. But with the huge popularity of this festival, lots of harmful, adulterated and synthetic colours hit the market that can easily increase the risk of various health hazards. It is no wrong to say that these colours are not very friendly to the environment as well. Fret not, as we are not restricting you to play Holi! Instead, we are here to encourage you to play Holi with natural, safe and sound colours. This Holi, we urge you to make your colours at home with our easy DIYs to keep yourself and the environment safe.

  • The rosy gulal: The redish gulal is known as the zest of Holi. This colour is the symbol of love and new beginnings and if you are looking for that natural red colour to make your Holi brighter and safer, then here you go! Take some rose petals and let them dry until the petals get all crumbly. Now, add these petals in a grinder and grind until you get a smooth powder and ta-da it’s done!
  • The lemony yellow: To prepare natural yellow colour at home, all you have to do is take some turmeric and gram flour in a 2:1 ratio and blend it together and you are done! Both turmeric and gram flour are good for skin health and can make your skin glowy without any damage. If you want a fragrant yellow colour for Holi, then you can dry the petals of some yellow flowers like marigold or yellow chrysanthemums and blend it in a grinder until you get a smooth fine powder.
  • The reddish-pink: This reddish pink colour is having a natural ingredient i.e. beetroot. Beetroots are extremely good for skin health and can easily protect your skin from the signs of ageing and wrinkles. The colour prepared from beetroot is liquid in nature and is extremely good for the skin. All you have to do is take some beetroot slices and boil them in some water. Leave the solution overnight and it’s done!
  • The leafy green: Now, this colour is for those who want a long-lasting natural stain on their skin. Without causing any harm to your skin, this colour will remain on your skin for a longer period of time than usual. Neem has been famous for its skin-soothing properties and can easily treat dry skin and wrinkles while treating acne and in this colour, we are utilising these skin-friendly leaves of neem. For the green colour, all you have to do is take some neem leaves and let them dry until it gets all crumbly. Now, grind it in the blender until you get a smooth fine powder and it’s done.
