Beat the Heat: Refreshing teas to keep you Fresh During Summer

While all the ‘tea-holics’ may still love to sip their hot cup of regular masala chai, we have different tea ideas to not let you miss your daily dose of chai and also provide you enough hydration and cooling. Summers call for trying various cooling drinks. While most of us opt for a glass of fizzy cold drink, it only tends to fill up the body with empty calories and sugar and does not necessarily cool the body down. It’s helpful to opt for something that’s actually cooling and healthy. 

Herbal teas are refreshing and famous as cooling herbs such as mint, hibiscus or rose, all these perfect for bringing down the temperature of your body. Not only do herbal teas keep the body temperature down but they also provide nutritional benefits.

Here are a few rejuvenating tea ideas to give it a try:

 

  • Chamomile Tea

 

Chamomile Tea is a popular beverage that comes from daisy like flowers and the flowers are dried and then infused into hot water. It is caffeine free alternative and is loaded with antioxidants that may lower your risk of several diseases. It contains apigenin, an antioxidant that binds to certain receptors in your brain that may promote sleepiness and reduce insomnia. Chamomile tea protect against stomach ulcers due to heat or excessive acid secretion, gas and nausea.

 

  • Lemongrass Tea

 

Lemongrass is the finest herb for the summers. Lemongrass tea is made by seeping the grass (or boiling it for a hot brew) in water. It treats bowel spasms and has a citrusy flavour. It is a common Thai ingredient and keeps you hydrated, improves digestion and also treats menstrual pain. Lemongrass is a folk remedy used to relieve pain and promote sleep. It has anti-inflammatory properties and helps in prevention of diseases like stroke and heart diseases. 

 

  • Fennel Tea

 

Fennel seeds can be dried to make a strong smelling tea with great cooling effects. It strengthens eyesight, regulates hormones, improves digestion and helps improve memory. Fennel tea helps produce new cells and reduce the signs of aging. The antioxidants in the fennel tea stick to molecules on your blood that fight oxidative damage and hence reduce the load on liver and kidney. Fennel tea relaxes your digestive muscles and bowel movements become regular. It removes toxins from our system.
