WHO calls for Urgent and Aggressive Action, Declares novel Coronavirus a Global Pandemic

WHO declared that the extensive reach of coronavirus across the world is a pandemic. As per the statistics, 118000 people in 114 countries around the world are suffering from the cases of COVID-19, the disease triggered by the virus.

Tedros Adhanom, director-general of the WHO said that the WHO continues to closely monitor the spread of the virus. He further added, “We are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity and by the alarming levels of inaction. We have called every day for countries to take urgent and aggressive action.”

The virus is also spread in Italy, South Korea, and the United States. We can still stop the spread of the virus can and control it, Adhanom said. He gave the example of both China and South Korea, where the virus has started diminishing. WHO said that if countries start taking action on COVID-19 then it can be solved.

This is the first disease which WHO has declared pandemic after the H1N1 “swine flu” in 2009.

On January 30, The WHO declared the coronavirus as a health emergency on a global level. The reach of this virus has become pandemic and it creating panic in the mind of the people. Coronavirus not only spoiling thousands of lives but also create fear in the mind of the people and that is why it is crucial to take steps to nullify its effects. 

Though WHO is still looking for a solution they have warned people to take some preventive measures and safe themselves from this epidemic.

Various countries around the world are preparing to fight off with the outbreaks of the coronavirus. COVID-19 can easily affect the elder people, people who are already suffering from some health ailments as they have weaker immunity and can easily come under the symptoms. 

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is recognised by various symptoms like a runny nose, sore throat, cough and fever. The more severe condition includes pneumonia and difficulty in breathing.

Some of the common symptoms people can experience during coronavirus disease include:

  • Cough
  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Painful throat
  • Fever

Prevention for Coronavirus

  • Whenever you come in from outside wash your hands with soap or water for 20 seconds
  • Don’t forget to use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if you don’t have soap
  • Whenever you go out, cover up your mouth and nose with a new and fresh tissue or mask
  • Always use a tissue or hanky when you sneeze and cough
  • Don’t touch your nose, eyes, and mouth too often
  • Maintain a distance with a person who is sick
