6 Health and Fitness Tips Inspired By Mahatma Gandhi

Not only does the food or exercise make you fit and healthy, but your overall lifestyle habits influence your life and mindset exponentially. Mahatma Gandhi has been called the father of India for a reason. He wasn’t just a freedom fighter, but we can call him a fit fighter. He practised what he preached. He has inspired many with his life story and teachings. He might amuse everyone with his not-so-strong look but he had a very strong spirit, that came from his mindset and routine.

Some Health and Fitness Tips Inspired By Mahatma Gandhi:

  1. Early To Bed Early To rising- this is an old saying and has come a long way in keeping people healthy. Sleeping and waking up early improves sleep quality, keeps the bone density intact, makes sure you have high energy levels, improves mood, keeps the weight in check and strengthens the immune system. It also balances the hormone levels.
  2. Walk Everywhere- walking is an exercise that is done by an individual unknowingly. It may be just about completing chores, or work but it gives all the benefits of working out like toning muscles, maintaining bone density, managing weight, improving immunity, etc. Walking after meals can aid digestion and improve blood sugar levels, whereas sitting will only lead to obesity.
  3. Eat Only To Fuel Your Body- we often end up eating more than the body needs or asks for. It could be because of the taste of the food or just a habit of binging. Portion control is an important part of our lifestyle as eating sufficiently enough will make us go about the day with energy whereas eating more will lead to lethargy. Just stop when you reach the feeling of satiety because the extra calories will surely cause weight gain and several illnesses.
  4. Keep Fast- fasting gives a break to the body and a break from all the extra calories. Fasting reduces insulin resistance and helps control blood sugar levels, fights inflammation, enhances heart and brain health, and may also increase growth hormone. It also helps the body detox itself.
  5. Meditate For Positivity- yoga and meditation have been there in our roots for many years and centuries, it’s just now that it has come to the limelight. Meditation is important for the brain and good mental health. It brings peace, positivity, calmness and eventually a restful sleep.
  6. Say No To Alcohol And Tobacco- excess use of alcohol and tobacco has shown to slow down the production of hormones, disrupt bone density, increase inflammation in the body, and negatively influence the function of the kidney, heart and brain. Try reducing the quantity day by day until you can finally quit these substance abuses.
