Halle Berry On Opting For Intermittent Fasting & Ketogenic Diet

The Hollywood actress Halle Berry opens up about the secret behind her super-fit body. The actress said that she has been following the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting to cure her diabetes while making herself fit and fine. The actress was consuming the combination of these two diets and following a strict fitness regime in order to keep herself in fine fettle.

Intermittent fasting and keto diet has gained much momentum in recent years. There are several ways of doing intermittent fasting like 16:8 method, 5:2 method, Eat: stop: eat method and alternate-day fasting. Berry follows the 16:8 method in which you have to do fast for 14-16 hours and open your eating window for 8-10 hours. In this method, you can eat 3-4 meals in a day but berry restricts her meals to only 2.

Berry was suffering from diabetes and she said that a combination of these two diets with the mix of her exercise regime helps her to get rid of diabetes while giving her such super-fit body. But restricting your eating while suffering from such health complication is safe or not? Intermittent fasting is extremely safe even if you are a diabetic. Taking proper care of your medication and eating is the key. Many health experts generally prefer 16:8 and 14:10 method. A famous health expert said “I know that it can be done safely, but I don’t prefer the alternate-day fasting or the 5:2 regimens. The 5:2 regimen is where you’d eat a very low-calorie diet 2 days a week and then eat your normal, but still healthy, diet the other 5 days a week.”

These types of diets and fasting will not properly sync with the process of our body and hence people won’t be able to stick with it for a longer period of time. People who are suffering from diabetes and are taking medications or suffering from side effects should always consult a health expert before following such diets.

Keto diet is also safe for people suffering from diabetes. All they have to do is balance their medications and follow the exact diet suggested by the health expert otherwise it can lead to further health complications. People with diabetes require great quantities of nutrients and phytonutrients that are majorly found in food sources that are rich in carbs (such as whole grains) and that is why many health experts suggest non-keto diets. Following a keto diet for the long term is not possible for many people as this diet is extremely low in nutrients.
