The culinary world, like any other world, is always undergoing innovations. The internet, especially social media, is set on an active mode when it comes to updating the food trends. While, as consumers we are mostly in an awe, the food industry is gushing to roll out variant products in the grocery aisle. 

One of these happens to be pasta and it’s type. 

From the traditional white flour pasta, to the wheat and semolina pasta, to quinoa and brown rice pasta,  to now chickpea, lentils, cauliflower and black bean pasta. It’s only getting better and wider. 

The black bean pasta is the present-day buzz for it claims to be wholesome and packed with nutrition . But is it really worth it? Read on to find out.

People who have celiac, are gluten intolerant or are suffering from diabetes, bean pasta can be your option. It has no gluten and won’t spike your blood sugar levels as fast because of the fiber content. 

Has a better protein profile:

Both bean pasta and white pasta offer jam-packed carbohydrates. But, legumes pasta offer more iron and fiber, which can reduce the risk of developing a heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Also brownie points for the roughage, which makes you feel full for a longer period of time. Keeping your weight in check. 

 Read The Labels:

When it comes to the boxed kind, label is the key. You don’t want to get trapped by the shrewd marketing tactics. Read and understand the labels before getting your hands onto them. Otherwise you might just end up having something that’s not much different than white pasta.

Keep A Watch:

Even if you’re eating quinoa, lentil or black bean pasta, the caloric content is still high. So, it’s important to keep a watch. Especially, if you are trying to lose weight or maintain it. 

Protip: Try doing a 50-50 while eating. Mix your plate with 50% veggies and 50% pasta.

The DIY spiralized vegetable pasta or zoodles are the best choice when it comes to having pastas or fulfilling the craving. They are not only versatile but also are nutrient dense and hey, way less in calories and great in fiber too.

If you crave having pasta, then black bean pasta can be a better option than the regular pasta. However, the cons shouldn’t be side lined.

 Regular consumption, isn’t recommended as it has a high carbohydrate and caloric profile. If you are looking to enjoy the antioxidants, protein and fiber that black beans have to offer, then there are various boiled options to choose from. Moreover, the market today is potent enough to cater to every need of the customer. But, what’s questionable here is, does what your body really need it?
