  • Soon Kueh: This dumpling is filled with a fragrant mixture of shredded bamboo, turnip and dried shrimps wrapped in a smooth tapioca flour skin.

  • Bak Chor Mee: This is a noodle dish with minced meat, a signature vinegary braised sauce that adds some wetness. Comes in two version dry and soup.
  • Satay: A dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served along with a spicy peanut sauce dip, or peanut gravy, served with slices of lontong or ketupat.
  • Nasi Lemak: Once a breakfast dish is now served in lunch and dinner, comes in many variations is a dish of fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf.


Food Culture of Lonavala

Best time to visit Lonavala is the months of October till March the official peak season, where the winter is equipped with a chilly breeze and pleasant sunshine. The temperature in this season varies between eleven to twenty five degrees Celsius and is decent for sightseeing.

In Lonavala, you can enjoy mouth-watering and enjoyable South-Indian, Chinese, North-Indian, Continental and even tastier local cuisine. There are numerous eating places in Lonavala to satisfy your stomach and spirit. Besides the restaurants, you can also give try to road-side shops and dhabas.   • Puran Poli: The delectable puran poli is a sweet version of our loving paranthas.   • Poha: This chai-time snack is made out of flattened rice which is a favorite breakfast food and a good source of instant energy as it is rice based and it will stave off hunger cravings. This versatile dish can be prepared in numerous ways and the most common variant is kanda poha which is made with onions.

  • Bhelpuri: Bhelpuri is a savory snack common in Lonavala region and is found in abundance on local streets. It is prepared from puffed rice, vegetables and a tamarind sauce for a tangy taste. This healthy snack will tickle your taste buds and is a healthy option if you are watching your waistline on the go.

  • Pav Bhaji: Your trip to any amchi Maharashtra state is incomplete without this dish! The lip-smacking pav bhaji has won the heart of every Indian!

  • Chikki: The famous sweet of Lonavala is Chikki which is available in different varieties. The most common type of chikki that is available in the market is Peanut chikki which is known to have anti-inflammatory effects thus, preventing the diseases like psoriasis and eczema.
