Lisa Ray who is an actor turned author was in Delhi and was seen wearing a mask as she dealt with severe pollution and breathing problems, the same way rest of the city was struggling through. Recently the actress attended the event of Sahitya AajTak and aired her battle with cancer and how she reacted with the problem when she was told it could be lead to a health disaster.
She completely opened about her cancer diagnosis and said, “My doctor was scared because after he announced to me that I had multiple myeloma, I didn’t react. Even though my doctor had said that it can be incurable and fatal and can also take me through the doors of destroyable mental well-being and physical health. She said that earlier my mind was giving a lot of signals to my body has but I kept on ignoring it. Intuitively, my inner self said that something was wrong. But I was so weak that I didn’t dare to do anything and I kept on ignoring what my body was telling me.”
She added various statements like “In our profession, you can’t go home when you’re sick. You pop medicines and get on with work. Besides, I hadn’t dealt with the trauma of the accident I was in. We keep busy to ignore our things and I only did that. After some time I finally had to stop and listen to my body, heal and make changes. I realized it was a time of reckoning. I knew it wasn’t the end of me, I knew I wasn’t going to die, but I also knew it wasn’t going to be easy.”
Not only this, but Lisa also goes a little ahead and discuss her journey of the modelling world and what reverberation she had suffered. She said that she was a glamorous figure, a sex symbol, but when it comes to the height of fame she suffered a lot. People won’t accept her easily and with the eating disorder like anorexia, bulimia, she started hating herself which ultimately gave a token to others to dislike her. With extreme experiences of health problems and food disorders she always was unacceptable for society and made her question the essence of her own life. These 2 big food disorders took her to the lowest and when she got to know about the diagnosis of cancer, that even make her situation worse. The three problems not only make her unrest for a lot of years but also started haunted her and furthermore she started hated herself.
Although true recovery from food disorders is very time taking and will definitely take your happiness, confidence and success but here are some ways to rediscover yourself and cope up with these disorders.
