Can I treat my hair fall with diet?

It depends on the intensity and severity of your hair fall and what exactly is the type of hair fall. If you are losing hair from the scalp, it is called hair loss and if you are losing hair from the mid length – it is called hair breakage. You need to figure out the type of hair fall first.

Now, if you are losing hair from the scalp, there could be many reasons to it like genetics, environmental pollution, stress, wrong choice of products or hormonal imbalance. Diseases like thyroid imbalance and typhoid fever can also make you lose hair from the scalp. The best thing to do is eat a diet rich in protein as hair is made of a protein called keratin. So, you should include foods like eggs, milk, chicken, pulses, lentils and nuts in your diet on a regular basis.

If you are losing hair from the mid length, you need to treat your hair in a gentler manner. As the hair once they grow out of the scalp become dead entities, you need to moisturize them well with the right products.

What are the best dietary tips to lose belly fat?

Losing belly fat is a matter of spot reduction which unfortunately is not possible through diet alone. Yes, a diet can work for the better management of overall body weight, making you lose fat from over all, it is unlikely that the diet can target a specific body area. To get the most of your diet, you must include exercise in your daily regime. In the diet you must cut back on processed and junk foods completely. Sugar is a strict no-no as it provided you with zero nutrition. Reduce salt intake also and increase the quantity of fruits and vegetables in your diet. For exercising, choose to do a mixture of strength and cardio based training, not for a short term goals but making it all a part of your daily lifestyle.

I suffer from diabetes, what sort of foods should I incorporate in my diet?

Diabetes should never be made synonymous with food restrictions. You can enjoy your favourite foods with a little bit of healthy innovation, food swaps and creativity even of you have diabetes. The best food choices that you have are-

  • Include complex carbs in your diet and remove simple carbs completely. The foods that are filled with simple carbs are- refined flour, sugary foods, and white pasta. Instead include whole grains in your diet like- ragi, oats, jowar, bajra and barley.
  • In fruits, you can consume- kiwi, apple, avocado, grapefruit, oranges, watermelon, and papaya
  • Have loads of veggies especially the green leafy ones like spinach, kale, lettuce, bathua and sarson.
  • Cut down on any sort of added sugar from your diet and it is sensible to cut down on the artificial sweeteners too as they can do more harm than good in the long run.
