Narendra Modi in the United States has become major eye-catching news going on in the whole world and so the special platter prepared by Indian origin chef to greet the PM Modi and other Indians in Houston.
Kiran Verma, an Indian-origin chef in Houston, who is the owner of an Indian restaurant Kirans in Houston, has prepared a special thali for PM Narendra Modi. The thali was specially made to be served at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
As per the reports stated, there were two types of thalis served at the assembly one is, NaMo thali and the second is NaMo mithai. All the dishes inculcated in these thalis were prepared in desi ghee. The NaMo thali has various dishes in it with the perfect amalgamation of various Gujarat dishes. From the Methi thepla to samosa with mint chutney to kachori with imli chutney to dal, khichdi and khandvi the entire menu was set up according to the taste of PM Modi. The mithai thali consists of a menu that has everything right from the gajar halwa, rasmalai, shrikhand, gulab jamun and kheer.
The chef talked about the idea behind Namo Thali and said that she wanted to prepare something similar to PM Modi’s birthday menu prepared by her mother. She had worked and researched a lot about what PM Modi likes to eat and what PM Modi’s mother cooked for him on his birthday.
When asked her about the menu and the thali she said, “I did a lot of research on what he (PM Modi) likes, what his mother cooked for him on his birthday”. She told the name of various dishes and said: “We will reveal Namo Thali after we serve the Prime Minister and once Narendra Modi tastes these thalis; both of them will become a part of my restaurant’s regular menu.”
Dining and collaboration
To host the Indians came to attend the event; Kiran Verma has collaborated with Four Stroke hotel in Houston. She said, “In the Indian menu, we have been cooking for the whole of last week. We have over 150-200 people for breakfast, lunch who have been coming since Tuesday till Monday. We have been hosting these guests at the Four Stroke Hotel and have been honoured to cook with Chefs over there. They are enjoying cooking Indian food with me. Every day we have to cook Indian meals for about 600 people.”
People from India and the US were crazy about this big mega event ‘Howdy, Modi’, and the preparations of this event were started a lot earlier with a full swing.
The event was planned in NRG Stadium in Houston with the largest gathering of about more than 50,000 people (Indians and Americans). With the support of more than 1100 volunteers that are continuously working for the planning and its success, the event was one of the major news and stated as significant by both the countries.
