Tricolour Fruit Trifle

Here’s an interesting way to celebrate Independence Day in a unique way. Try out our delightful recipe, Tricolour Fruit Trifle and also spread the joy among your neighbours and friends.

A simple yet healthy recipe, this trifle will be loved by everyone one in your family. A glass full of papaya, kiwi, yogurt and crunchy nuts.

Nutritional Values

Papaya is loaded with antioxidant nutrients like flavonoids, carotenes and vitamin C, including vitamin B (pantothenic acid and folate). Also, it’s a good source of dietary fiber and magnesium. Altogether, these nutrients help treat cardiovascular health and protect you against colon cancer.

Secondly, kiwi is an excellent source of vitamin C including vitamin A, E, K, folate, and minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus added with the bonus of dietary fiber that tremendously doubles up the nutritional value.

Yogurt is a superfood packed with calcium, protein and active bacteria beneficial to keep your gut healthy. It promotes weight loss, boosts metabolism, increases immunity, prevents osteoporosis, and fights against anemia and vaginal infections.

Nuts like almonds and walnuts are extremely beneficial parts of a daily diet containing a wide variety of nutrients like dietary fiber, linoleic acid, monounsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants, flavonoids, L-arginine, vitamin E, plant sterols, copper, zinc iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and manganese.

Ingredients

  • Papaya- 2 slices (chopped)
  • Kiwi- 1

  • Plain yogurt- 100 grams

  • Almonds- 1 teaspoon (finely chopped)

  • Walnuts- 1 teaspoon (finely chopped)

Serving: 2

Calories (per glass): 72 Kcal

Course: Evening Snack and Mid Meal Snack

Method

  • Take a glass and put a thick layer of chopped kiwi first.
  • Now put the second thick layer of plain yogurt and spread it evenly with a spoon.

  • Then, sprinkle some almonds and walnuts to add some crunchiness in the trifle. And again cover the layer of nuts with a spoonful of yogurt, spread it evenly the way you did earlier.

  • Now, add the final layer of papaya and sprinkle a few nuts on top.

  • Refrigerate it for 1-2 hours and serve chilled.

Nutritional Benefits

Beetroot provides you with fibre, iron, potassium, folate and Vitamin C which is good for skin and further act as an antioxidant. It can improve exercise performance, lower blood pressure and serve as a low calorie food. It can also improve digestion and help in weight management. Thyme is a Mediterranean herb and has been traditionally used to cure diarrhoea, stomach ache and sore throat.

Ingredients

2 small beets

Few sprigs of thyme

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt- as per taste

Calorie = 112 kcal
Protein = 2.8 grams
Carbohydrates = 14.8 grams
Fat = 4.7 grams
Recommended for- High Blood Pressure and Digestion
Course- Evening Snack

Method

Cut beets into thin slices

Put them in a saucepan, with some water. Boil until tender

Next, light your charcoal or barbecue fire

Take a large piece of foil and lay the beets in them. Brush a little olive oil and top with thyme and lemon zest.

Fold the foil and twist the ends together. Punch small holes in the foil with the help of a knife or fork.

Leave it to cook for 15-20 minutes.

Once cooked, allow it to cool and then discard the charred skin.

Toss with salt and pepper, and serve.
