Plum and Berry Lemonade

When you feel like drinking something sweet, treat yourself to this sparkling lemonade drink. Enjoy this chilled drink with your kids, family, and friends and replenish with essential nutrition.

Nutritional Values

Juicy and delicious plums contain an assortment of healthy nutrients valuing your health in many ways such as treating muscular degeneration, osteoporosis, diabetes, and obesity. Vitamins present in it are vitamins A, C, (ascorbic acid), K (phylloquinone) and folate, vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) and B-6, minerals including iron, calcium, zinc, fluoride, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. They also offer dietary fiber and little calories without any such harmful fats.

Blueberries, on the other hand, are nutrient-dense, high in fiber, high in water content low in carbohydrates and low in calories. Berries are a rich natural source of vitamin C, K, B6, folate, manganese potassium, copper, abundant with antioxidants, especially anthocyanin, which is responsible for powerful health benefit like strengthen bones, lower blood pressure, improve heart health, control diabetes, improve brain health, reduce acne, and soothe inflammation.

Ingredients

  •         Plums cut into chunks- 2 large
  •         Blueberries- A handful
  •         Lemon juice of 1 fresh lemon
  •         Coconut Sugar- ½ teaspoon
  •         Water- 30ml
  •         Handful of ice cubes

Calories: 38-40

Course: Mid-day or Evening

Method

  •         Extract the juice from plums and blueberries.
  •         Add the plum and blueberry juice to water and stir them with the other ingredients such as lemon juice, coconut sugar and blend them to together.
  •         Garnish it with mint leaves and few ice cubes and serve them chilled.

Nutritional Benefits

Beetroot provides you with fibre, iron, potassium, folate and Vitamin C which is good for skin and further act as an antioxidant. It can improve exercise performance, lower blood pressure and serve as a low calorie food. It can also improve digestion and help in weight management. Thyme is a Mediterranean herb and has been traditionally used to cure diarrhoea, stomach ache and sore throat.

Ingredients

2 small beets

Few sprigs of thyme

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt- as per taste

Calorie = 112 kcal
Protein = 2.8 grams
Carbohydrates = 14.8 grams
Fat = 4.7 grams
Recommended for- High Blood Pressure and Digestion
Course- Evening Snack

Method

Cut beets into thin slices

Put them in a saucepan, with some water. Boil until tender

Next, light your charcoal or barbecue fire

Take a large piece of foil and lay the beets in them. Brush a little olive oil and top with thyme and lemon zest.

Fold the foil and twist the ends together. Punch small holes in the foil with the help of a knife or fork.

Leave it to cook for 15-20 minutes.

Once cooked, allow it to cool and then discard the charred skin.

Toss with salt and pepper, and serve.
