It’s very frustrating not being able to sleep properly, and not having a proper good night rest. It can cause depression and some serious heart problems like diabetes, high blood pressure etc.

Instead of relying on sleeping pills or other pharmaceutical options try this wonderful turmeric milk recipe.

Nutritional Benefits:

Milk: Milk is a rich source of calcium, vitamin D and potassium and has a great importance to the human body. Calcium and vitamin D helps in building healthy bones and teeth while potassium helps in maintaining blood pressure. Warm milk before bed helps us to relax and make us sleep well

Turmeric: Turmeric is an ancient ayurvedic medicine that has numerous of health benefits. It has antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which are very important while treating high- cholesterol and heart diseases. It has powerful anti-inflammatory properties which help to cure when you’re suffering from cold or flu. The soothing qualities of turmeric can help you getting sound sleep even at the time of sickness.

Ingredients:

  • Milk- 200 ml
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tspn
  • Ginger chopped- 5g
  • Cardamom powder- ½ tspn
  • Organic honey- 2 drop

Calories: 144 kcal
Protein: 6.7 g
Carbohydrate: 10.5 g
Fat: 8.6 g

Method:

  • In a pan heat milk and add turmeric powder, cardamom powder and chopped ginger.
  • Bring the milk to boil and turn off immediately. Let the milk cool to a moderate temperature before adding honey.
  • Add honey then strain through a strainer in a cup. Find a quiet place to relax and enjoy it.

Nutritional Benefits

Beetroot provides you with fibre, iron, potassium, folate and Vitamin C which is good for skin and further act as an antioxidant. It can improve exercise performance, lower blood pressure and serve as a low calorie food. It can also improve digestion and help in weight management. Thyme is a Mediterranean herb and has been traditionally used to cure diarrhoea, stomach ache and sore throat.

Ingredients

2 small beets

Few sprigs of thyme

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt- as per taste

Calorie = 112 kcal
Protein = 2.8 grams
Carbohydrates = 14.8 grams
Fat = 4.7 grams
Recommended for- High Blood Pressure and Digestion
Course- Evening Snack

Method

Cut beets into thin slices

Put them in a saucepan, with some water. Boil until tender

Next, light your charcoal or barbecue fire

Take a large piece of foil and lay the beets in them. Brush a little olive oil and top with thyme and lemon zest.

Fold the foil and twist the ends together. Punch small holes in the foil with the help of a knife or fork.

Leave it to cook for 15-20 minutes.

Once cooked, allow it to cool and then discard the charred skin.

Toss with salt and pepper, and serve.
